Austin's heat was getting insane and my Canadian friend Nate who I met when he came to visit the lovely state of Texas offered that I come visit him, why would I say "No" to Vancouver, Canada? I just got back yesterday and flying back into Texas a wave of mild depression washed over me. I stayed with the most lovely girls, the people were all so welcoming and awesome, the weather was of course gorgeous,and not to mention the insane views. Truly jealous of all you Canadians, I will be making my way back soon, Austin, Texas--love you, but I need to get away from you, for my own sanity!

remember the time of dressing up our barbie dolls, or better yet american girl dolls? then came the internet and I would spend hours playing dress up dolls online. looklet.com is my total guilty dress up doll pleasure. maybe I'm a little bit old for dress up dolls, but this website has real looking models, so many designers to choose from, you can even choose the background and the effect of the picture, kind of dress up doll heaven for me. now if only my closet was a big as looklet's closet, i would reaaaally be in heaven.

not too long ago my friend julia and i decided to embark on a canoeing adventure. thank god for corn nuts, beer, islands, dog parks,and well especially beer because apparently we aren't the best canoe-erzzz. these were taken with julia's holga camera. luvv da results.

about a year ago i came into possession of a colorsplash lomography camera and kinda tossed it aside and forgot about it. recently with all the adventures i've been going on i wanted to bring it back out. not really knowing what i was doing--these are the results. my favorites are the first two, the film seemed to have gone crazy.

Something is wrong with the photo uploader, but at least you can see a little glimpse of my beautiful trip. My second time in Washington, and I still feel as if stepped into a Tim Burton film or a Richard Diebenkorn painting. We explored old military forts, ate fresh oysters that tasted like candy, raced wooden airplanes, ran through the cold sand, touched flourescent sea creatures, stood in a lighthouse searching for whales in the gray violent sea and bruised myself playing in the icy snow. The beauty of this state really does a number on my emotions, alternating between adoration for the place and the people that surrounded me, and feeling a quiet sad nostalgia around christmas time really made the whole trip pure magic.

totally forgot about these pictures, this took place last year on my birthday in February on the rooftop of the skate shop (notice how we're all wearing shorts-- Austin, Texas is challenged with the whole weather and seasons thing). my friend matt munson takes awesome pictures and i fell in love with these black and white pictures he took. i remember the day perfectly-- beautiful sunny day spent picnicking in the park, drinking birthday beers on the rooftop with my handy dandy new beer belt, lots of food and friends and laughs. perfect birthday.

halloween is my least favorite holiday. not that i don't like dressing up, just the process and things that go into dressing up (i.e. time, money, thought, stress, blahblaaaaahlala) i'd rather not have a holiday dedicated to it and just dress up whenever i want. but i dressed up anyway and went as sailor moon--brunette style. and on friday when everyone else dressed up (not on halloween) i went as myself, but some thought i looked like a hooker. i can't help that i have long legs, rips in my shorts, and boots that make me like 6+ feet tall. so i went as a hooker/myself. shove it.

went to a memorial for my aunt Annie who passed away in august, the picture above is my mom, grandpa and aunt in black when they were younger. my aunt was and is one of the greatest, strongest, generous, free spirited, and driven woman i know, among so many other great things. my second mom, the places that have meant so much to me like Paris, and Puerto Rico which i experienced with her will never be the same, but her spirit will surround their beauty, i know it. so in her honor we celebrated her life in typical Annie family/friend style, lots of food, alcohol, laughter, tears and funny faces.

old people like to party--you better believe it.

as sisters we feel we owe it to each other to pick each others noses. the least we can do for each other.

my mom thinks my face is ugly.

if my aunt was still here i know she would be making funny faces with me. missing her.

haven't posted in a while, i've been kind out of it/not feeling so great. saw Where the Wild Things Are for the second time tonight.. i obviously loved it a lot. there is something so great about the movie that i can so easily relate to-- seeing Max at nine years old reminds me of my childhood and how easy it was to just create my own world when times got tough. anyways, went digging a little bit and found these old photos of my sister and i, times were great when our mama dressed us.

guest checks--they provide me with something to write my life notes, to-do list, financial planning, doodles, poems, and art on. thank you guest checks, and thank you non-existent customers that don't walk through the doors of our restaurant, you leave quality time for me and my guest checks.

the short amount of time fall/winter comes to austin, texas these "Where the Wild Things Are" coats for Opening Ceremony. (they are expensive--i would go broke, but i can dream)

my butt wants to be in these shorts (erin wasson x RVCA) --because if my Australia trip goes as planned then summer time will be upon me again soon.

Jenna's pretty green dress made its way onto my body, and the pictures don't do as much justice as they should for the dress. needless to say it could probably make any girl's boobs look great. thanks jennalove for letting me wear it, and for the pictures.
on another note--my laptop has been in computer heaven for the past two weeks and i'm waiting for it to get repaired so all my favorite pictures/inspirations are floating out there somewhere and i want them back! but the break my computer and i are taking from each other has given me time to read tons of books! just finished The Rum Diary, and Hells Angels by Hunter S. Thompson, and next up is the The Proud Highway so i'm pretty excited, i forgot how much i loved reading.

Another day, another coughing fit. I've been coughing for about 4 months now...it's either the smoking or the a.c filter in the room I sleep and dream in. My dear friends from Washington have left, which means no more wizard status. That's probably a good thing. I think I am going to have a shoot for a vintage clothing site next week, I will keep you posted. Thinking about art and how I haven't made enough of it lately, though that's all about to change..I am about to start working on a series of some very funny dark portraits. On a more deppressing note, my boyfriend Jared got his motorcycle stolen from him last night. It's what he uses to escape me and the world at three in morning when he needs to be alone. I feel horrible, that man loved his bike. Anyways, here is some Jill Stuart, House of Holland a little Kurt Cobain thrown in and some of my favorite artist, Anselm Keifer and Willem de Kooning.

So remember somewhere out there you've got a friend and you will never walk alone again....

Took over my boyfriends house while he was hard at work. Lexi a hot red headed citizen and I played with his motorcycle and his leather jacket and woke up the visitors who sport mullets and flew all the way from Washington to show them off to the good people of Texas. They also came here to drink all day and play in Heavy Metal Mullet. We ended the day skating barefoot and dancing. The next day we took a day trip to Hamilton pool, where the scenery was beautiful but the park rangers were not. To put it in the most general of terms we almost got arrested for indecent behavior. Another memory worthy weekend.

I'm itching to get out of town, i miss California and the california friends, and the beach-- it's crazy how you can meet such amazing people in such a short period of time. giving me hope in mankind again (sometimes i really lose hope). my travel goals seem so far away but they will be here before i know it, and i can't wait.

my best friend Jenna is in town from Fashion school in Dallas and despite every single difference that we have we are still best friends 6 years later. Jenna is classy and somewhat conservative and i'm just...not that classy(sometimes she thinks i look like a hooker with my ripped shorts and bra showing). she wants 5 kids, a beautiful grand wedding and she's going to marry her high school sweetheart..i don't want any kids, i want my wedding (if i ever get married) to take place on the sand on the beach somewhere without shoes, and I don't even have a high school sweetheart. We have completely different views on things, but even after not seeing her for months on end we snap right back to our instant bond and friendship, what are best friends for!?i love the girl and can't wait to share her designs/sketches on here sometime very soon!

Just a little compilation of articles of clothing that inspire my wardrobe and lifestyle. The 90's are back and its become a grungy world out there. The band Mazzy Star was the epitome of 90's carelessness. I love all leather jackets and will soon post a picture of the motorcycle jacket my boyfriends wears when he's on his bike. What else is good? The Asymetrical Emilio Pucci Dresses, Erin Wasson for RVCA, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen boots, Bulgari watches that are also bracelets and the fierce sharp shouldered jackets created by Balmain. I need to compile an outfit of my own now.

Every piece of fabric Mr. Wang touches become a true piece of magic. I would kill to wear those skinny studded pants for just one day. With this outfit I would seem quite ready to dance with the zebras, though the Azzaro fur jacket would inevitably make me a primary target for lions and cougars.

In between the downpour and drizzle of rain my sis and I got to hang out at my favorite park for a little while. I got the leopard print dress at Savers yesterday, I cut out the shoulder pads--seeing as my shoulders are already pretty broad, cut the sleeves shorter, and the hem-line a little bit shorter.

I want to be Jennifer Herrema when I grow up. An aspiring musician myself, I would be lucky if I could only possess a quarter of her beauty, fearlessness, style and her I don't give a fuck...about anybody attitude. She is a warlike flower, who moans and groans on stage and seduces behind the lens. Steven Meisels lens to be exact. His first depiction of the now infamous heroin chic child. This doll could growl her way to hell. One half of Royal Trux, the fantastic playful imaginative rock and roll band that have songs named Witch's Tit and Granny Grunt. Song that will haunt your soul, please your ears and make your brain feel as you been playing pac-man for the last week.....on acid. But no girl this magnificent could only have one talent, she is also a well-known producer, artist, songwriter and an avid wave rider. She puts us regular females to shame. Now go check her out and start a band or something.
